ATS-friendly CV templates
Design is secondary to parsing. A beautiful resume that the software cannot read still loses.
A template is a reading of the same text
JobHoot ships thirty designs. They read one resume. Switching from a compact layout to a serif header does not delete the roles you typed, and it does not turn them into a picture. That is the property that matters more than the accent color. The gallery at `/templates/` gives each design its own URL and a description of the look. Pick for the human who opens the PDF after the text has already been stored. Do not pick because a screenshot on social media used a dark sidebar.
A template you download as PNG, or as a Canva link full of text boxes, has the opposite property. It looks like a finished CV and arrives as shapes. No amount of "ATS friendly" in the filename repairs that. If you already have words in JobHoot, stay there and export. If you are still in Word, use a blank one-column file, as the Word guide describes, and only then consider a designed export.
The free Resume Score is the check on whatever you exported. Parse Rate does not care which template name you preferred. It cares whether the words survived. Building and exporting do not spend a token. A token is for an AI write: summary, tailor, cover letter. You can fill every line yourself, prove the PDF parses, and never buy one.
Make the text selectable
Put your name in the body of the document, not only in a colored header. Use one column. Headings a person would say out loud are enough: Experience, Education, Skills. Each role is a block with the employer, the title, and dates as text, then bullets. Do not build the layout from tables, text boxes, or a row of software logos. Word can do this. A poster app usually cannot.
Export a PDF and try to drag across one bullet. If the highlight skips, the words are still a picture. Upload that PDF to the free check at `/resume-score/`. Parse Rate is the share that came out as clean text. It is a JobHoot heuristic, not a reading from any employer's ATS. Resume Score on the same page is about the document, with no account and no job ad. If Parse Rate is low, fix the file and upload again before you think about keywords.
Then match one posting, if you have one
Job Match Score needs a sign-in and one vacancy. It lives at `/ats-checker/`, which is not in the sitemap. It asks whether this file uses that ad's words next to work you did. It does not average itself with Resume Score into a single ATS score. The marketing line can still say ATS score, because that is the search. The result page should not.
A token costs Rp 250 when an AI write succeeds. A new account gets 50 tokens once. The guest score does not spend them. The smallest purchase later is 100 tokens, Rp 25.000. Do not spend one to invent an employer, a degree, or a date. If the ad wants a license you do not hold, leave the gap.
What to send
Send the PDF whose text you could copy. Keep the designed poster for a human who asked for a visual, and even then keep a text version. Switching templates inside JobHoot does not delete the lines you typed, and the export stays text. A PNG downloaded from a gallery is not a template you can be searched through.
How to choose without collecting thirty files
Open the gallery and read the one-line description. Compact is for a long career that should stay on a page. Clinical, ledger, faculty, quota, and the others lean toward a field by tone, not by stuffing that field's keywords into your file. The keywords still have to be yours. A nursing template does not confer a license. A sales template does not confer a quota.
Build the content once. Switch the design only to see how a human will scan it. Export one PDF. Run Resume Score. If Parse Rate falls after a switch, that design is putting text where the extractor struggles, and you should pick another rather than argue with the number. You do not pay for the switch. You pay only if you then ask the AI to rewrite a line.
Export once, run the free check once, and keep the design that did not drop Parse Rate. Collecting screenshots of other templates does not change the text layer.
Keep the design that held Parse Rate. A darker sidebar is not a reason to switch if the extract got worse. The gallery is there so each look has a URL, not so you collect thirty PDFs.
One export, one free check, one design kept. That is the whole choice.
