Cover letter examples for applications in Indonesia

A local letter is specific, not ceremonial

Indonesian application letters often open with a long formal greeting and never reach the job. Keep the greeting short. In the next paragraph, name the role and where you saw it. Then two pieces of proof in Bahasa Indonesia if the ad is in Bahasa Indonesia. Use the ad's borrowed English for tool names: Excel, SAP, WhatsApp, shift. Do not translate them into vague Indonesian to sound pure, and do not switch the whole letter to English because a template site did.

An example shape, to fill, not to copy as a life: "Saya melamar posisi staf admin yang dipasang di situs Anda. Selama dua tahun di perusahaan dagang di Jakarta, saya menyusun jadwal rapat direksi dan mengarsip kontrak vendor." That is enough of a pattern. Replace the city, the years, and the tasks with yours. Do not keep "perusahaan dagang di Jakarta" if you worked at a clinic in Surabaya. The fictional sample is how people end up with a letter that contradicts the CV.

The letter does not repair a broken PDF

The letter has one job: show you read this posting, using proof already on the resume. Two short stories beat a page of enthusiasm. Skip the letter when the employer said not to send one. Do not send an English template to a Bahasa Indonesia ad, or the reverse, unless the ad itself mixed languages and you are matching that mix for the tool names only.

Admin, Bahasa Indonesia ad: "Saya melamar staf admin yang dipasang minggu ini. Di perusahaan logistik di Bekasi, saya menyusun jadwal pengiriman harian di spreadsheet dan mengarsip surat jalan untuk sekitar 40 pengiriman seminggu." Swap Bekasi, the firm, and the count for yours. If you did not touch delivery notes, do not keep "surat jalan" because it sounds operational.

Nurse, ad that names a ward: "Saya melamar perawat yang Anda buka untuk bangsal anak. Selama shift malam di rumah sakit di Bandung, saya mencatat pemberian obat sesuai protokol bangsal dan serah terima ke shift pagi." Keep the license number in the resume as text. The letter can mention that you hold STR without turning the letter into a scan of the card. In both fills, the next sentence should already exist, shorter, on the CV. If it does not, write the CV first.

Keep the sample from becoming a biography

The Bekasi logistics sentence and the Bandung ward sentence are shapes. If your work was a campus lab, the sentence has to say the lab, the tool, and the count you have. Leaving "surat jalan" in a letter about a thesis is how contradictions are born. The CV gets the shorter version of the same fact first. The letter points at it. STR stays as text on the resume. The letter may say you hold it without embedding a scan.

Generate only after that CV line exists. Then read every proper noun against today's ad. The free part is that reading. The token is the draft, and only if you want one. A Bahasa Indonesia ad gets a Bahasa Indonesia letter. Tool names stay as the ad spelled them. A formal opening that never reaches the task is the failure mode of local templates, so the second paragraph has to be the proof, not another greeting.

Replace Bekasi and Bandung with your city only when the work happened there. The second paragraph is the proof. Another greeting is how local templates fail. The CV line exists before the letter points at it.

A shape is not a life. If the noun is not yours, the sentence is not yours either.
